As October temperatures cool across the Denver metro area, many Colorado RVers begin transitioning their rigs from summer road trips into off-season storage. Properly preparing your motorhome or travel trailer before leaving it parked prevents costly freeze damage, pest intrusions, and battery decay.
1. Interior Deep Clean & Pest Prevention
Before storing your rig, clear out all food items, crumbs, and pantry supplies to avoid attracting unwanted rodents or insects over the winter. Defrost residential and RV refrigerators, wipe interior surfaces thoroughly, and prop open refrigerator doors to prevent mold and mildew growth.
2. Battery Care & Power Maintenance
Sub-zero Front Range temperatures can ruin unmaintained RV batteries. Disconnect house and chassis batteries to prevent parasitic power drain, or connect a quality trickle charger/battery maintainer to keep power levels healthy through freezing winter months.
