Explore Right in Our Backyard: Top RV-Friendly Destinations Near All Stars RV — All Star Rv Blog
When you pick up your camper or motorhome from our lot in Littleton, you don’t have to drive for hours across the state to start your outdoor getaway. Some of Colorado’s most scenic lakes, mountain canyons, and high-country vistas sit just minutes from our doors. At All Stars RV, as a family-owned integrated dealership serving the Front Range for over 19 years, we love helping local adventurers make the most of every mile. Whether you're taking out a lightweight travel trailer, a toy hauler, or a spacious Class A motorhome, here are three fantastic RV-friendly destinations right in our backyard—plus local tips from our team to make your setup smooth.

1. Chatfield State Park (Littleton, CO)

• Drive Time from All Stars RV: ~10 Minutes • Best For: Quick weekend shakedowns, water sports, and family camping • Recommended RV Type: Class A, Fifth Wheels, Travel Trailers, Popups If you want a hassle-free getaway without straying far from home, Chatfield State Park is practically in our neighborhood. Nestled against the rolling Front Range foothills, this expansive park features a massive reservoir, miles of paved biking trails, and 197 campsites equipped with electric and full hookups. What to Do: • Water Recreation: Launch your boat, rent a paddleboard at the marina, or relax at the swim beach. • Wildlife & Views: Explore miles of multi-use trails along the South Platte River or visit the on-site dog park. • Convenient Shakedown Spot: It’s the ideal location to test out newly installed appliances or systems before taking on a longer road trip. Pro RV Clearance Tip: The canopy at the park’s main entrance on Wadsworth has a 13-foot height clearance limit. If you are driving a tall Class A motorhome or fifth wheel, make sure to enter via the Plum Creek Entrance off Titan Parkway!

2. Bear Creek Lake Park (Morrison, CO)

• Drive Time from All Stars RV: ~20 Minutes • Best For: Red Rocks concertgoers, hikers, and weekend fishermen • Recommended RV Type: Travel Trailers, Class B/C, Compact Fifth Wheels Located just northwest of Littleton in Morrison, Bear Creek Lake Park offers 2,600 acres of open space, fishing lakes, and panoramic mountain views. Indian Paintbrush Campground inside the park features 47 electric-hookup campsites nestled near the base of the foothills. What to Do: • Concert Basecamp: Sitting roughly 10 minutes from Red Rocks Amphitheatre, it’s one of the best RV-friendly bases for attending a summer concert. • Trail Access: Hike or bike the Bear Creek Trail connecting directly into the surrounding mountain foothills. • Water & Wildlife: Cast a line for trout in Bear Creek or paddle across Big Soda Lake. Pro RV Tip: The winding road into the campground experiences steady bike traffic. Ensure your trailer sway control and weight distribution hitches are properly tensioned before towing through tight park turns.

3. Waterton Canyon & Roxborough State Park Corridor

• Drive Time from All Stars RV: ~15 Minutes • Best For: Day trips, wildlife watching, and hiking • Recommended RV Type: Class B Camper Vans, Compact Travel Trailers While night camping isn't permitted directly inside Roxborough State Park, the southwestern Littleton corridor along Waterton Canyon is a iconic day-trip destination for local RVers. What to Do: • Bighorn Sheep Spotting: Hike or bike the gravel road through Waterton Canyon alongside the South Platte River, where herds of bighorn sheep frequently graze on the canyon walls. • Red Rock Formations: Visit adjacent Roxborough State Park to marvel at dramatic, tilted red sandstone formations that rival Garden of the Gods. • Basecamp Nearby: Base your rig at nearby Chatfield State Park and use your towed vehicle or bike to explore the canyon during the day.
